Catering Request Information
Gator Dining Services (GDS) is donating $5,000 in product cost each Fall and Spring
semester to assist student organizations that need donated food for campus-wide events.
A committee is made up of representatives from Business Services, Student
Government, the Dean of Students Office, the Reitz Union and Gator Dining
Services. The committee will review applications weekly.
Some facts to know:
- GDS has developed a list of "quick and easy" foods such as pizza, subs, wings,
cookies and chicken fingers which can be requested for donation. All requests must be submitted no less than 14 days prior to the event.
- More complex needs such as receptions are also eligible to apply for a donation and
must apply no less than 14 days in advance.
- All events must have begun the permitting process with the Office of Student Activities.
Final scholarship approval is contingent upon the event being approved and posted on the Student Organization Events Calendar
http://www.union.ufl.edu/calendar/.
- Requests will be considered only to events open to all students; banquets and receptions
announced only to the membership, will not be funded.
- Donations for areas which are restricted to GDS service (the Reitz Union, its
North Lawn and South Terrace, the Law School, etc.) will have preference in the selection process.
- Groups that do not provide adequate information will be sent an e-mail asking
for additional information if time allows; if there is not sufficient
time to find out complete details, they will be denied.
- The maximum grant will be $500.
- In an effort to support as many groups as possible, organizations that have already
received funding during the semester be considered after all new applications.
- Pick-up for the "quick and easy" foods can be arranged. The more complex catering
may have to be staffed by GDS.
- Organizations receiving a donation will need to place the GDS logo (found on the Involvement web site or Gator Dining website)
on all printed materials and any advertising should mention their support.
In order to submit a Request for funds for your event, an officer (with permitting privileges)
must log in through the permitting process and choose the option to complete a Catering Scholarship Request Form.
In order to make a request, you must have an active permit that it can be tied to.
Please refer to the Student Organization Catering Guide for more information.
The committee uses the following criteria to approve or deny each request and
determine the dollar amount for approved requests:
- is the event open to the public?
- what size audience is expected?
- has the organization already received scholarship funds this semester?
