This position focuses on providing technical support to the staff at the Reitz Union. Typical activities include setting up and troubleshooting hardware & software used at the Reitz Union as well as answering user questions. Previous experience with Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft Office, and computer hardware is preferable. This job provides an excellent opportunity for students to get hands-on experience with many types of computer technology and also to develop their customer service skills.
This position requires experience with Photoshop and Illustrator, along with familiarity with hand coding HTML, CSS, and Flash work. Strong graphical ability is important. Please list your web and graphical skills in the on-line application and leave web links to your work if possible (screen shots may be requested later instead of live work.)
Our web site has many types of interactive pages in addition to our informative pages. You will be able to gain experience with XHTML, ASP, and SQL in this position. Web development is done using a team approach through which you will interact with other individuals having graphical and programming talents. This position offers the student a diverse real world learning experience in which they can develop their technical abilities as well as business and customer service skills.
Student assistants work in a customer service environment handling all aspects of sales to ticketed events on campus and throughout Florida on the Ticketmaster system. Duties include selling tickets, providing information (in person and on the phone), and handling monetary transactions (cash and credit cards). Most duties take place in the University Box Office located in the lobby of the Constans Theatre (adjacent to the Reitz Union). Some duties will take place at various venues on the University of Florida campus. Work schedules are part time, but are a definitive part of a weekly schedule. Work times for events may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Now accepting applications for Fall 2008. Please include Fall 2008 class schedule.
Students in this position work in the Arts & Crafts Center, located in the basement of the Reitz Union. Arts activities include pottery, stained glass, silk screen printing, jewelry making, basketry, book making and more. Student responsibilities include: clean the workspace and equipment, stack pottery kilns, mix glazes, operate a cash register, assist customers with craft projects, sell jewelry and art supplies, create art samples and window displays, assist with publicity and promotion of events, answer the phone and provide support to the art instructors. Students may also assist with art activities during the Gator Nights late night program. Shifts worked are primarily during the normal hours of operation: Monday thru Friday 1:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Saturday noon until 5:00 p.m. Closed on home football Saturdays.
Prior related art experience is essential. List your specific skills on the application.

The student gallery director coordinates all aspects of exhibits held in the Reitz Union gallery. The gallery director will coordinate the entire exhibition process. Duties include: advertise a Call to Artists to exhibit, coordinate the art committee to review applications, schedule exhibitions, review terms of agreement with artists, prepare insurance lists, advise exhibitors with the installation of work, coordinate and host the art receptions, write and place press releases and design promotional materials. Strong organizational skills required. Previous Mac and Photoshop graphics experience desired. Hours to be arranged, and vary from 10-15 hours per week.
The student manager is a para-professional position of the Arts & Crafts Center staff. The student manager assists with the interview and hiring process, coordinates work schedules, and plays an active role in the training of student employees. The student manager also serves as a liaison between the student employees and the professional staff of the Arts & Crafts Center. The student manager acts as the manager for the Arts and Crafts Center and The Studio in the absence of the professional staff. The student manager assists with late night program planning and special events, ordering merchandise and the daily operation of two art facilities. The Student Manager will assist in the research and creation of new activities for special events. The work schedule of the student manager is 20 hours per week and may include evening and Saturday afternoon shifts.
The student manager reports directly to the assistant director of the Arts & Crafts Center and receives guidance through regularly scheduled meetings and electronic communications. The student manager advises and councils student employees in performance expectations and provides feedback through employee evaluations.
The student manager is required to have prior cash handling experience. The student manager will be trained to operate a point of sale cash register and is required to become proficient in its use. The student manger will also be trained to reconcile daily deposits, prepare related reports and to operate a variety of tools and equipment in the arts studios. The applicant is expected to gain a general knowledge of the department’s Procedures Manual and is required to familiarize the student staff with it.
The applicant should possess a general knowledge and interest in arts and crafts and have a strong interest in developing leadership and management skills. It is helpful for the applicant to have some experience in ceramics processes, and/or silk screening. The applicant must be self motivated and able to work a flexible schedule. The student manager is also expected to serve as a role model to the student staff, providing excellent customer service and handle all service challenges with courtesy and good judgment.
These positions provide a wide variety of AV services to Reitz Union customers, from 7a to Midnight, seven days a week. No prior AV experience is necessary to apply, training will be provided.
Students work for both the Center for Student Involvement, including assistance for the Student Organization Resource Center, and for the Office of Student Activities. Students answer phones, provide front line customer service at CSI and OSA info desks, check organization constitutions, assist with organization registration, answer email, assist with communication to and from student organizations, provide office access to organizations in the Student Organization Resource Center, and other assistance duties as assigned. Student Assistants will work shifts during the following hours: 9:00am to 9:00pm Monday -Thursday, 9:00 am to 6 pm Friday, and 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday.
This position provides website development, design, and support to the staff at the Reitz Union within the Department of Student Activities and Involvement. The primary function of the Assistant Manager is to act as manager in the absence of the copy, packing and shipping center Manager. The Assistant Manager supervises the Student Assistants, keeping the center operating at peak function and maintains proper cash handling procedures. The Assistant Manager is also required to handle customer service challenges.
The Assistant Manager is responsible not only in seeing that the front counter run smoothly but also patrols the area at various times picking up trash, returning equipment to the proper place, and fixing equipment as needed. The Assistant Manager is expected to delegate jobs to Student Assistants as necessary.
The Assistant Manager will be in charge of interviewing, hiring, training, and scheduling of the Student Assistants. It is very important that competent people are hired for these positions and it will be the responsibility of the Assistant Manger to ensure that the center is staffed with people who are invested in the value of customer service. It is also the Assistant Manager's responsibility to discipline Student Assistants as needed and bring any employee problems to the attention of the Manager.
The Assistant Manager will complete accounting paperwork and deposit funds at the completion of the day. It is required that this accounting paperwork and depositing be accurate and follow proper University and Reitz Union procedures.
The Assistant Manager is responsible for ordering equipment and merchandise needed to ensure the center operates smoothly. The Assistant Manager will inventory items for retail sale monthly, and order new merchandise as needed. Upon receipt, the Assistant Manger will verify the order and complete all necessary paperwork to pay vendors.
It is the goal of all copy shipping and packing center employees to make the center a pleasant, professional, stress free location for the University community to make their copies and ship their packages. It is also the goal of all employees to ensure that the center accurately collect all monies for the services it offers to ensure that the copy, shipping and packing center can operate on the University of Florida campus.
It is the responsibility of the Assistant Manager to bring to the attention of the Manager any problems or challenges in the operation of the center.
The primary function of the Student Assistant is to operate the front counter, assist customers in the copy, faxing, binding, laminating, shipping and packing center needs, and to preserve security in the center.
This entails taking customers orders, operating the copiers and machines necessary to complete the customers orders, operating the register, money handling, and overseeing the center during business hours. The Student Assistant is expected to assist customers with maximum competence and customer service skills at all times.
Student Assistants oversee the area looking for prohibited activity, such as, but not limited to setting beverages and food on the copiers and abusing the copiers. They also patrol the center to pick up trash and straighten area as needed. They are also to oversee the self serve copiers to ensure the copiers do not get broken into.
Student Assistants are required to complete orders, clean and straighten counter area, restock forms, answer phones and direct calls when not busy with customers. They are required to maintain equipment and report any failures to the Manager.
Customer Service skills and money handling a must.
The primary function of the Student Assistant is to operate the front counter, assist customers in the Game Room and Video Arcade, and to preserve security in the Game Room and Arcade.
This entails clocking the customer in and out on the automatic scoring system, operating the register, money handling, and overseeing customers during business hours. The Student Assistant is expected to assist customers with maximum competence and customer service skills at all times. This requires knowledge of the position and procedures, and the knowledge of the Union and what it offers.
Student Assistants patrol the Game Room looking for prohibited activity, such as, but not limited to; sitting on pool tables and setting beverages and food on pool tables and video games. They also patrol Game Room to pick up trash and straighten area as needed. They are expected to return all equipment to the proper racks when equipment is not in use. They are also to check video game doors to ensure the games have not been broken into.
Student Assistants are required to clean and straighten counter area, restock forms, sharpen pencils, answer phones and direct calls when not busy with customers. They are required to fix bowling equipment and report any failures to the Manager on duty.
Student Assistants should bring any problems that develop to the attention of the Student Manager, Assistant Manager or the Game Room Manager.
It is the goal of all Game Room employees to make the Game Room a pleasant, stress free location for the University community to spend their leisure time. It is also the goal of all employees to ensure that the Game Room accurately collect all monies for the services it offers to ensure that the Game Room and Arcade can operate on the University of Florida campus.
The primary function of the Student Assistant is to provide information to customers at both the Information and Welcome Center desks. Student Assistants are responsible for answering and transferring phone calls, as needed and assisting guests with walk-up questions. The student assistants also aid with in-house service requests for other members of the operations department as well as other departments such housekeeping, maintenance, hotel desk, etc. Other duties may be assigned, based on the needs of other JWRU departments.
The Student Assistant is expected to assist customers with maximum competence and customer service skills at all times. This requires knowledge of the position and procedures, as well as knowledge of the Union and what it offers.
Student assistants are also responsible for the receipt, tagging and logging of items turned in to the Lost and Found. Student assistants are also responsible for the filling, emptying and placing of table tents in the Food Court of the Union.

Act as Ambassador for the Reitz Union during all Union programs. Review all room arrangements to be sure all equipment and set-ups are correct before each meeting or event. Secure building by locking/unlocking doors and access areas as required. Check to make sure no unauthorized persons are inside facility during closing hours. Advise Director and other supervisory personnel of situations and circumstances that may affect operating policies and procedures by posting either in "Night Report" or e-mail to appropriate personnel. This would include, but not limited to, disciplinary problems, maintenance, housekeeping, or operations issues. Responsible for all building staff during shift. After training period, be aware of specifications of life safety systems, fire alarm procedures, violence protocol, campus alcohol and drug policies, specific policies concerning the union grounds and hotel occupancy specifications. Be effective communicator with a diverse population and varied educational levels in a tactful manner. Must be able to make decisions/resolve problems under pressure. The first position will be from Friday morning reporting midnight - 8 a.m. and Saturday midnight - 8 a.m. The second position will be Saturday and Sunday mornings - 8am-4pm. It is possibly other shifts may be available and vary according to department and building needs This position is required to work holidays, weekends, and 4:30 p.m. - midnight, as needed, so shifts change often. This will also depend on student's availability schedule. This position requires a physical and background check.
This position helps with the management of the late night program, Gator Nights!, that is held in the Reitz Union and Southwest Recreation Center every Friday night during the Fall, Spring, and Summer B semesters. Duties consist of working at the Reitz Union Friday's evenings until 2:00 am during scheduled Gator Nights! doing the following tasks: concession stand & food bar staffing, game room monitoring, and other various duties as assigned. Must have good interpersonal skills; able to follow oral instructions; be flexible and able to work independently.
10-12 hours a week at starting pay rate of $6.65/hour
This position focuses on providing print graphics support to the staff and student organizations at the Reitz Union and Office of Student Activities. Candidates must be enrolled In the University of Florida's College of Fine Arts and completed the following courses: ART 1803C and ART 2220C. Must be Macintosh proficient with knowledge of PhotoShop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and Quark. Strong communication skills, both visual and verbal, are required. A conceptual thinker who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment on a diverse group of student activity projects. Portfolio must show an exceptional design sense, especially in the areas of typography, layout, and information design. Design aesthetic must be versatile in execution, and reflect a sophisticated understanding of style as it relates to content and a high degree of visual organization. This job provides an excellent opportunity for students to get hands-on experience with print graphic design and computer technology and also to develop customer service skills.
Students work primarily in the Office of Student Activities, but may provide office coverage in the Student Activities Center. Students answer phones, direct calls, conduct computer work, filing, faxing, greeting visitors, scheduling appointments for staff, copying, special projects as assigned by OSA staff. The Office of Student Activities is open from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday - Friday with extended hours on Wednesdays until 7:00 pm.
The primary function of the Productions Assistant is to assist with room and light audio visual equipment set ups for conferences, meals and meetings. The majority of a student assistant's time is spent on setting up tables, chairs, stages and other furniture needed to complete the set-ups. They are expected to return all equipment to the proper storage areas when equipment is not in use. This equipment can weigh up to 70 pounds.
The Productions Assistant is expected to assist customers with maximum competence and customer service skills at all times. This requires knowledge of the position and procedures, as well as knowledge of the Union and what it offers.
Productions Assistants are required to straighten meeting rooms as well as common areas. They are also expected to assist with staff coverage for the Information Desk and the Welcome Center, as needed. Cross training is provided to ensure that employees are given the correct tools to meet the customers' needs.
Productions Assistants should bring any problems that develop to the attention of the Student Manager or Operations Manager. In the absence of a student or operations manager, productions assistants report directly to the night and weekend manager on duty.

Current shifts would be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
Front Desk Assistants work during the day with the Manager or Student Manager. Their primary duties include checking in and out hotel guests, posting phone and occasional room charges, taking reservations over the phone and providing information to visitors to the Reitz Union/ University of Florida.
Currently looking for someone to work days - Specifically MWF from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Also, some weekend hours and TTH hours may be available.
Housekeeping assistance is needed basically on weekends and involves cleaning hotel rooms, setting up/taking down the breakfast buffet, and providing assistance with folding/storing clean laundry and other duties required to offer our hotel guests the best service in the city. $6.79/hr.
Responsible for the operation of the hotel desk during the late night/early morning hours (11 p.m. to 7 a.m.).
Duties include checking in/out guests, answering switchboard, taking reservations, programming wake-up calls, posting room and phone charges to guest's folio, preparing reports for manager and business office and other duties as assigned by the hotel's manager or assistant manager.
Salary - $7.25/hour

Availalbe days - Friday 11 p.m. to Saturday 7 a.m. and Saturday 11 p.m. to Sunday 7 a.m.
Weekend Managers, in additional to the duties of the Front Desk Assistants, handle the operation of the hotel desk in the absence of the Manager and Assistant Manager. They are expected to be able to solve problems that may occur in order to appease our guests while still operating within the guidelines set by the Hotel's procedures.
I will be hiring someone for the rest of the Summer and Fall Semesters - we don't close for the break between semesters. I am looking for Friday and Saturdays from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and possibly 4 hours on Sunday.
Updating and maintaining the Student Government websites.
Employee needs to be very skilled in website development and design.
