Our Mission
Reitz Union Board Entertainment provides engaging, quality events to the diverse University of Florida community.
RUB Entertainment puts on FREE events almost daily at the Reitz Union with the combined efforts of four different committees and an Executive Board.
The Bands Committee is dedicated to bringing a varied musical experience to the diverse student body. We are always looking to bring new and unique forms of music and entertainment ranging from local talent to nationwide acts to the Union. Such past programs include: The Flaming Lips, TV on the Radio, Cursive, Of Montreal, Minus the Bear, Deerhunter, and Kimya Dawson. The Live Music committee also hosts two bi-weekly music series in the Orange and Brew. Alternating Thursday nights at 8:00pm is the Local Brew (local bands) and our Karaoke Night. Rap, R&B, Ska, Punk, Rock, Pop, Reggae, Jazz, Hip Hop…you name it, we’ll play it!
The Film committee is dedicated to the selection and promotion of films, providing weekly film series in the Reitz Union Auditorium. We show a wide variety of films from romance, to comedy, to foreign films, you name it! The Film Committee also hosts other film-related events, such as movie triva nights, complete with prizes.
The Lecturers and Comedians ("LnC") committee provides insight and laughter to the student body. Events occur all throughout the Reitz Union, ranging from improv groups to sex lecturers to student stand-up competitions! Past performances have included the Upright Citizens Brigade, Charlie Murphy, Sabrin Jalees, To Write Love on Her Arms,J-Spot the sex educator, and Frank Warren of PostSecret.com.
The Promotions committee works to publicize RUB Entertainment events on campus and around Gainesville. Each member of the committee gains experience working with media contacts, guerilla marketing, and graphic design, while helping to advertise for RUB Entertainment events. The Promotions committee is responsible for the planning and programming of events in and around specialized entertainment and promotional campaigns.
