Friday, November 13, 2009 - Sunday, November 15, 2009

Take some time to adventure to North Carolina and backpack with us in beautiful Linville Gorge!

Description

Spend a weekend away from Gainesville and the worries of class to travel to Linville Gorge, widely considered one of the most beautiful locations in the Southeast. With such landmarks as Table Rock and Linville Falls, it is hard to deny this statement. Leaving early morning Friday, we will spend the weekend hiking through gorgeous trails, viewing enormous boulders, swimming in a refreshing river, and experiencing the wonder of a truly breathtaking waterfall. This trip will include great company, delicious meals, wonderful hikes, and sleeping under the stars. Linville Gorge is guaranteed to leave even the most experienced backpacker inspired.

Itinerary

We will leave early Friday morning and spend the afternoon getting to know one another as we make our way to North Carolina. Upon arrival, we will hike down the gorge to set up our first campsite next to the Linville River and enjoy dinner by a campfire. Saturday we will continue our hike along Linville Trail while enjoying the beautiful scenery and refreshing dips in the river. Sunday we will wake up in time to see a miraculous sunrise and then load up in the vans in time to make a pit stop to view Linville Falls before arriving back to Gainesville Sunday Night.

A backpack and sleeping mat can be rented in the outfitter the week before the trip. You are responsible for all personal items, such as clothing, flashlight, water-bottles (2-3 liters), rain gear, cup, plate or bowl, fork or spoon, knife, etc. We will give you a specific list of the items you will need at the pre-trip meeting.
