Data Science Assistant

The Data Science Assistant assists with writing code to strategically collect, maintain, and use information to inform decisions.  This position serves the UF community by providing programmatic or analytical support for all areas within the Reitz Union.
 

Area Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Assist with data collection, data cleaning, survey development, statistical analysis, and data reporting
  • Write code to analyze and generate reports for all assigned assessment and research projects conducted
  • Collaborate with other assessment staff members to build, enhance, or debug code as needed
  • Analyze and generate reports for all assigned assessment and research projects conducted, creating recommendations based on analysis and findings
  • Assist with the development of programs and coding projects that conduct assessment/research for various aspects of operations including, but not limited to, effectiveness of service, customer satisfaction and perceptions, and employee trainings
  • Assist with facilitation of assessments including but not limited to surveys and focus groups as needed
  • Complete all training requirements upon being hired in a timely fashion
  • Be able to commit to working 10 or more hours per week
  • Fulfill other duties as they are assigned

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiar with at least one of the following programming languages: R, Python, C, C++, Java
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and/ basic knowledge of VBA
  • Able to demonstrate previous experience with customer service
  • Proficient with verbal and written communication

 

Administrative Services Staff Member Responsibilities

  • Be a current University of Florida full-time student in good standing with at least a 2.0+ GPA
  • Respond to and assist with emergency situations and building evacuations per department procedures or as instructed by building management staff.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of professionalism
  • Demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • Establish an exemplary work ethic by being proactive, self-motivated, and dependable
  • Participate in all scheduled meetings, trainings, and evaluations
  • Possess the ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays and academic breaks, as needed
  • Act as an ambassador for all areas of the Reitz Union, the Office of Event Services, and the University of Florida, providing accurate information and campus resources
