Gator Market Frequently Asked Questions
Gator Market is a monthly program at the Reitz Union that invites students, university departments, and local businesses to showcase their products and services to the campus community. It aims to diversify the range of products available on campus and provides entrepreneurial and outreach opportunities for vendors.
Gator Market operates on limited dates from 10:00am to 2:00pm during the Fall and Spring semesters. See website for details.
To participate, you must complete a vendor application. Upon approval, you will receive payment information. Your spot at Gator Market will be confirmed based on availability and once payment is received in full. Registration opens mid-Fall 2024 and will remain open until 4pm the Thursday prior to Gator Market day.
Each reservation includes 10 x 10’ space, one 6’ table, and two standard outdoor chairs. If your reservation includes a tent, it will be set up prior to your arrival. RSOs and University Departments will receive one 6’ table and two standard outdoor chairs in the Reitz Union tabling area.
No additional tables are permitted. Any additional equipment you bring must fit within your 10’ x 10’ space. Tents must be secured with sandbags or weights.
Check-in begins at 8am on the day of the market (9am for RSOs and University Departments). Vendors may temporarily park along the North Lawn sidewalks for loading/unloading.
After temporarily parking, proceed to your designated area. Each reservation type will have a different area. From there, choose a number from an open table and bring it to check-in. Tables will be chosen on a first come, first served basis.
Vendor parking is included in your registration fee, with one space allocated in the UF Visitor Welcome Center garage. Parking for RSOs and University Departments is not included.
Vendors with trailers or oversized vehicles will need to contact Gator Market before their reserved date. They will be redirected to a lot located about 1-2 blocks from the Reitz Union.
Failure to check in and set up by 10:00am will result in being classified as a “no-show” with no refund or opportunity to reschedule. After two no-shows, you won’t be invited back for the rest of the semester and will be on probation for the following semester.
To cancel, email gatormarket@ufsa.ufl.edu by 4pm the Wednesday before your reservation. Requests received after this deadline will forfeit payment and cannot be rescheduled.
Homemade or prepackaged foods are not permitted. Other food- like items may be allowed on a case-by-case basis. Fresh produce is permitted. RSOs and University Departments are not permitted to sell food.
Cash sales are allowed. However, UF is a cashless campus, and we strongly encourage alternative forms of payment such as Venmo, CashApp, or Square.
Heavy rain or severe weather may lead to cancellation. Staff will assess conditions by 7:45am on the day of the Market. Notifications will be emailed if the Market is canceled. For extreme weather, such as hurricanes, cancellations will be made in advance.
Violations of policies may result in removal from the event and cancellation of future reservations. Disruptive behavior, unauthorized solicitation, and prohibited items are strictly regulated.
Fees vary based on the type of reservation. Please visit the Gator Market website for details.
